We provide specialised mental health care for individuals with neurological, neurodevelopmental or neurodegenerative disorders. We aim is to individualise neuropsychology by assisting clients with their unique needs. We do this by providing individually tailored consultations, cognitive assessments, treatment management, coaching and psychoeducation. We are available for online or in-person consultations for most services, with the exception of cognitive assessments, which have to be completed in-person.
Generally, a cognitive assessment ranges from 1-3 hours and involves testing aspects of brain function including memory, language, attention, thinking, IQ and executive skills. Before the assessment, there is usually a 1 hour initial consultation where we collect relevant information such as medical history and background information. After the assessment, there is an opportunity to discuss test results as well as to provide recommendations and next steps. Overall, we would be spending between 4-5 hours together (but not all in one sitting):
- Consultation (1 hour)
It all begins with a consultation. During this session we discuss your needs and establish the goals of the cognitive assessment. We discuss relevant background information, medical history and the next steps for you.
- Cognitive Assessment (1-3 hours)
Generally, a cognitive assessment involves testing a range of brain functions including thinking, memory, language, attention, executive skills, academic abilities and IQ. The assessment is individually adapted to your needs.
- Treatment Management (1 hour)
After the cognitive assessment, we discuss the best next steps for you. This will include applying the results of the assessment to your individual needs as well as learning new cognitive strategies, counselling or a referral to a medical or allied health professional.
- Psychoeducation (1 hour)
The individual will have the opportunity to go through their assessment results with the neuropsychologist to better understand the nature of their difficulties or diagnosis and learn about future steps.
