Dr Ben Bravery is a Sydney-based adult psychiatrist with experience in consultation-liaison psychiatry, hospital psychiatry and private practice.

His clinical interests include anxiety disorders, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, mood disorders, psychosis, and the psychological consequences of chronic and major illness.

Qualifications and Experience

Dr Bravery completed his medical degree from the University of Notre Dame Australia and has trained at numerous hospitals, including Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick.

In addition to his medical degree, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecology (UQ), a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication (ANU), and a Masters of Psychiatry (University of Melbourne). He completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), including subspecialised training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

Dr Bravery currently holds psychiatrist roles at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and Bathurst Health Service.

Dr Bravery remains involved in research relating to consultation-liaison psychiatry, medical leadership and training, and the treatment of anxiety and depression.

He teaches medical students at UNSW and the University of Notre Dame Australia. Dr Bravery has published papers on evolution, ecology, medical education and psycho-oncology.

In 2022, he published his book, The Patient Doctor.
